Is there any way to configure OTRS that a new user (customer) enters their chosen password at the "create account" section on the login screen? Or that a random password is generated and output to the web interface and not emailed? The reasons this is required in our situation is that all users wont necessarily have access to email (yes - true); and that the mail system itself (under the techs control) may be the issue that needs to be logged.
I undertand the reason why it is currently implemented as it is - but can this be changed without too much effort?
I have also seen on other helpdesk systems a "No Time to Register - Submit a ticket right away" option which then just asks for a username and email address and allows the user to submit a ticket straight away without waiting for a password to be emailed - however in this case, a password does get emailed so that the user can come back to the system at a later time. Its just that the user can submit a ticket straight after registering without waiting for a password. Would this be easier to implement?
Thanks
Lee

Re: Allowing new user to select password when creating accou
Not easy to implement without an email address, but you *could* create a webform (like from http://www.jotform.com) that submits with a "trusted/hidden" email address that asks the appropriate questions including email address and the agents could create/change customer user after receipt.
