Long delays when opening email reply window

Hi folks,

I've come across a weird problem on my Otrs 3.0.3 install where there is a rather long wait between selecting the answer type from the drop down and the new reply window with the editor opening up. The new window does actually open up but it's simply blank for between about 45 seconds to a minute. After the delay the content does actually load quite quickly and it's usable as normally expected.

At the same time, so I expect it's related, there's an error that shows up in the apache error log as below:

I should mention that I've tested this on emails that don't contain any images embedded/attached and it still happens however normally our company emails do contain the logo embedded.

Anybody come across this before? Any idea where/what this image001.gif is?
