Extract information for external website via SOAP

Dear all,

I'd like to display some information from the ITSM-Module (config Items) on an external website.
A customer who enters a serial number in that external website shoud be provided with the configuration of the respective system. That information resides in config Items within OTRS::ITSM.

just to get things right:

Is it possible to do this by API calls via php-SOAP ?

Where can I look for documentation on soap in OTRS?
