How to prevent manual creating of duplicated CI entries

Hi,

Is there any way to prevent duplicated CI entries, based on certain field, like "name"? For importing data from file, identifier field/s can be specified. Can the same be done for manual CI update process?

If duplicated CI entry has already been added an linked to other objects, is that possible to delete it?
For not linked CI, I can clean up relevant entries in configitem_version, configitem_history and configitem tables.
