Using OTRS for bulk patching of config items [hardware]

Post by icm3012 »

Hi

Is it possible either with OTRS or a plug in to be able to select multiple config items to have software patcxhes applied via a work order with minimal user intervention.

for example

26 hardware units requireing a patch for a bugfix, these units are all listed in OTRS using the configitems function. They are also individually linked to the software version and patch versions. ALl require an update patch and I want to create a work order under a change request as these are all customer units under a support contract. I want to select a new patch version and get it applied to alll units listed.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

you could use the Export/Import module for this
Produktiv:
OTRS 6.0.13/ ITSM 6.0.13
OS: SUSE Linux (SLES 12, Leap), MySql 5.5.x, 5.6.x
Windows 2012 AD Integration (agents and customers), Nagios integration (incidents, CMDB), Survey, TimeAccounting

Thanks for your advice, but I think I didn't explain myself fully. What I want to do is to force a download to the 'selected' hardware and automatically install the patches linked to that peice of hardware. This would be fantastic as I am really talking of potentiallly hundreds of units to be patched in a single instance. Otherwise it will have to be a workorder and for a user to logon remotely to upgrade and then update the workorder for each hardware unit.
