I"m completly new to this, sorry if this is one of those "dumb" questions
I am missing the icons at the top of the dashboard that show the numbers of tickets, etc and allow you to click on that to get direct access
Any suggestions ?

I think I fig. it out...once i started putting tickets in I got the "locked" icon and the number 1 at the top of the screen. I also found the "assignments
and "ticket watcher' sections, which I probably where the other icons I am see in the admin manual are coming from.
I do have another ? but I will psot that in a seperate post

please fill your signature with OTRS Version, OS etc. and attach a screenshot to your post indicating what you are missing

Hello on the new OTRS (3.x) the Icons in the NavBar Default off...
Go to:
Admin > SysConfig > Group Ticket > Frontend::Agent::ToolBarModule
Now you Can Activate:
Frontend::ToolBarModule###410-Ticket::AgentTicketEmail
Frontend::ToolBarModule###400-Ticket::AgentTicketPhone
Frontend::ToolBarModule###410-Ticket::AgentTicketQueue
Frontend::ToolBarModule###410-Ticket::AgentTicketStatus
Frontend::ToolBarModule###410-Ticket::AgentTicketEscalation
