Help! Unable to bring up OTRS

We just upgraded to 3.0.5 yesterday and I started to modify some of the system config files to add logos and get email working which are things I never had setup on the old version. Out of nowhere I started getting errors about unable to locate object. To fix I started copying the PM file listed in the error from a backup but now it will not get passed this one

Can't locate object method "TicketMetaItems" via package "Kernel::Output::HTML::Layout" at C:/PROGRA~1/OTRS/OTRS//Kernel/Output/HTML/DashboardTicketGeneric.pm line 334.


This all seems to have started when I was trying to get the SMTP to work. I did have a couple of windows open with different config settings but was only working with core::sendmail when the first error occured.

Okay I was short on time to solve this so I backed up the database and uninstalled and reinstalled. This got me back up and running but I lost all the changes I made earlier. I am almost afraid of trying to make these changes again because of this crash.
